Welcome.

Ven.
K. Rathanasara

Most boys at twelve years of age would still be living out the last of their childhood years but not him. By that age, Venerable K. Rathanasara had been working hard for a year to overcome his mother’s reluctance to let him become a monk. Finally, in 1984, the boy from the southeastern Sri Lankan village of Kanugolle succeeded. With his parents’ blessings, he was ordained as a novice monk.

In 1998, he received his higher ordination (upasampada) at the Malwatu Maha Viharaya in Kandy, Sri Lanka. Even as a monk, he kept up with his education, obtaining a Bachelor of Arts (Special) degree in Mass Communication and Master degree in Buddhism (MA) at the University of Kelaniya.

Venerable K. Rathanasara came to Singapore in 2001 to be a Resident Monk at the famous Sri Lankaramaya Buddhist Temple. After sixteen fruitful years at the temple, he heralded a new beginning in his lifelong career by going independent to set up the current Dhamma Centre in 2018. As Founder and Spiritual Advisor of the Dhammakami Buddhist Society (DKBS), his aim is to take his Dhamma propagation endeavor to the next level.

An eloquent speaker, Venerable K. Rathanasara is a well-respected and frequently sought-after Dhamma teacher. His public sharing, Sutta classes, religious functions and retreats consistently witness a growing interest among the attendees. An author of many well-received Dhamma books, Venerable K. Rathanasara also delightfully takes on the Spiritual Patron role in many Buddhist organizations
